Old Way of Ford
Path freshwater and saltwater

The Ancient Way of Ford (AGV), with which he took to rediscover ancient paths to the Val di Trebbiano and Aveto, which is proposed route for mountain biking and, in the course of the river water Trebbia , the main reference. E' un modo per far conoscere due corsi unici per la qualità delle loro acque, per viverli, per goderli, acque in cui rinfrescarsi nelle stagioni estive. It 's a way to introduce two unique courses for the quality of their waters, to live them, to enjoy them, in which cool water in summer.
With the Main Street route you want to discover ways of Ford or mule that unlike the route of the road today in the Val di Trebbia paths in the hillside or ridge thus avoiding passing through the gorges and steep slopes next to the river, so frequent at the top of Trebbia and Aveto. In places where the valley is more open and less impetuous river, the route includes the ford of the same gates necessary in the absence of stable crossing points are difficult to achieve, both for technical reasons for the fact that the rivers and Trebbia Aveto, besides being a physical division of the territory, have represented the line of socio-political regions or countries.
The route starts from the Ethnographic Museum Trebbia, Callegari in Bobbio, in the green fields and woods of chestnut and oak, from where it dominates a stretch of the river Trebbia two important vantage points from which one can enjoy views of Mount Penice and Stone Parcellara. The Borgata is a significant point for those who want to rediscover the rural culture in Trebbia and appears to be adjacent to the old ford Cassolo-Bertuzzi, at the opposite side of the village of La Barca, so named because in the past the ford of the river could be carried out with a rowing boat, the river Cassolo is a picturesque stream with little waterfalls surrounded by thick vegetation of the Apennines.
The route of the ancient Via dei Ford provides, so that they would meet in the process of recovering Bobbio maximum paths required, one on the left side and one on the right of the Trebbia, which formerly allowed to cross near the throat of Barberino before the completion of the road bridge over the gorge itself. Overcoming Bobbio you want instead to recover the ancient and picturesque road Carana result of which the Court and the area of Brugnello Brugnatella. Ford the most important thing you will discover is, back again, that the confluence of Aveto and Trebbia, it is an ancient ford that when Bobbio belonged to the kingdom of Piedmont and Sardinia, allowed to reach the territory of Cerignale as a peninsula between bounded by the mountains and rivers Trebbia Aveto. Made the ford, the path that came from Brugnatella Court was divided into two major mule, and a right to Cerignale Trebbia, the other went to the farmhouse and Aveto.
A third important ford is at the end of the trail route in Aveto to Salsominore, an ancient crossing point where traditionally it was available, like the ford of Confiente, a boatman, who, with stilts to allow the passage Shoulder to third parties, even in periods of relative river flow.

Itinerary Callegari in Bobbio, on the right bank of the Trebbia

Starting from the Ethnographic Museum in the town Callegari, we descend along a cart track for about 600 meters and arrive in Cassola, from here to Costa Caminata Scabiazza and halfway up a route along which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Trebbia. From Scabiazza follow the path that allows us to circumvent the Ravine Barberino, reaching the village of Piancasale, an ancient path used to reach Bobbio; Piancasale from the path runs along the river Trebbia to go as far as the Ponte Vecchio and then to Bobbio. We can make two diversions: the first is to get out of the old ford of the Ethnographic Museum in correspondence to the Cassolo of Cadogan, where we admire the fine tower house in excellent condition, the second one that departs from Scabiazza falls for a track to the gorge and then Pradella Barberino.

Directions from Bobbio to the ford near the confluence between Aveto and Trebbia

This event takes place largely in the natural environment of the average Trebbia: walk the ancient streets of medieval Carana that moving away from the village of San Martino, you can connect with the area of Bobbio Brugnatella Court, passing through the village of Brugnello: This route was used until the years 1870-1880, before the implementation of state Bobbio-Brass-Genoa. Before the village of Brugnello the path overlooking the beautiful maze of Trebbiano di San Salvatore; Brugnello from the track will be using the old mule track, now passable with vehicles, leading to Marsaglia, then along a short stretch of State Road 45, we reach the junction for Confiente, for confluentiam, with the old Fords. The path along the Trebbia up towards the wooded slope, the road here, though challenging, can also be addressed in mountain biking. Once in the street to take Cerignale Oneto and shortly afterwards, at the La Serra, a mule track over the ridge to reach the Santa Maria.
