We chose for the route's convenience to start from Piacenza and follow through the state highway that cross the Trebbia Valley, suggesting however, the different steps that connects this valley to the other two: Tidone Valley and Luretta Valley, with the possible differents modifies that allow an ampler and panning vision of the beautiful landscape that entertains us. Let's gear first march and start to discover what our province offers for the lovers of the two wheels: The Trebbia Valley it is for the greatest part of the bikers one of the ideal footsteps to unsheathe an aggressive sporting guide. This all curves' route however is also surrounded by landscapes and architectures that deserve some more attention between a fold and the other.
It introduces therefore us on the state highway 45.
The road lately has become the target of so many speed cameras, but unfortunately there is to take note that this road has also been protagonist of so many tragic episodes and even and the speed cameras haven't served as deterrent for so many unwise that succeed in ruining also the fun of whom know how to enjoy the curves without damaging their own life and the other people's one. (Obliged premise).
An important note must be made for the semaphore on the state highway 45 on the Niviano's intersection; who live in Piacenza can certainly recognize its particularity. The poster has an original incitement to do a wheelie! Everyone would like to depart with a beautiful wheelie, but for the good and the health of all, please not mistake the street highway 45 for a circuit of campionship!
Up to Rivergaro they accompany us in our trip the thousand tones of green of the lowlands, the hills in distance, the river Trebbia with its swimmers and the lights of the houses distributed in the valley. Past Rivergaro the first curves welcome us and also the vegetation flows fast modifying itself around us; the hills draw near and more we go up and more they embrace us and they tighten to us with the tall trees that coast along the whole journey closing itself above our heads. We follow the indications for Bobbio.
For the true bikers this initial line is only for heating, but the fun never ends. Are advisable however some deviation along the street before reaching Bobbio.
To the height of Travo and Perino is recommended him to cross the Passo del Cerro that will conduct you to Bettola and therefore in Val Nure.
If we avoid this deviation and we intend to continue, immediately after Rivergaro on the right we will find the indications for Statto, to admire one of the castles of the valley, or subsequently Rivalta, with another not less fascinating castle (there are indeed so many beautiful castles in the Province of Piacenza).
Once reached Bobbio, whose symbol has become by now the characteristic Ponte Gobbo, people can finally appreciate all its architectural wealths; not to lose it is for example the abbey of S. Colombano. It is obliged a standstill in the Square of Bobbio that is by now a traditional meeting for many motorbikers. We can sit again on our motorbikes.
When we leave Bobbio people can ride along the mountain pass of the Penice that is 1253 meters of altitude. This mountain pass has ample and rather easy roads, some returning and so many curves. Curves are beautiful, but also deceptive, while the asphalt doesn't reveal some sign of breakup that can disturb the guide. After few kilometers iwe can found an alternative that conducts to the Brallo, estranging us from the Penice mountain that however will continue to accompany us, on our left, while we are crossing a not so many enthusiastic road for some holes that we meet in the central area of the road. You can follow then the indications on the right for Bridge Organasco, really on the border between the Val Trebbia and the Paavese. Here the landscape becomes wealthy of ample pine forests, lawns and mountains crossing some uproarious returnings.
If we continue straight along the Penice, after around 15 km the road brings us in the Pavese, but if we want to stay within our valleys, people can easily continue in direction of the Tidone valley. Going down therefore toward the valley that coasts along the Tidone reaver people can reache the Dike of Molato, with his lake. This one is one of the standstills more frequented by the motorbikers. The road up to the Dike is narrow, but flowing and involving. If we want to return toward Piacenza we'll go toward Trevozzo and until there the curves are guaranteed, after that we will follow the direction for Borgonovo and then Piacenza for ample streets and by now more in rectilinear. If we want to push us in the other small valley of Piacenza, the Luretta Valley, from Trevozzo we will divert toward Piozzano, completely surrounded from green hills. The curves are insured until Agazzano, where we recommend to admire his castle, after that the lowland returns to be the protagonist and slowly curves start to abandon us. From Agazzano you continue straight to Gragnano and then to the city of Piacenza, or to return in the Trebbia Valley to still enjoy the last curves before returning home.
If we have not abandoned the 45 instead, after Bobbio the valley has the tendency to subsequently squeeze together and you can be see well the river that flows between the rocks and the hills. Here the guide follows a fluid and soft rhythm in the slowest curves, pressing in the brief returning and there are also some thrilling big curves for the one who loves the sporting guide and the folds.
This route will conduct, who want, up to the many beautiful lands of the Liguria, but before abandoning this fascinating section of our province, it must not be forgotten that the valleys of Piacenza don't end to Bobbio; there are so many more emotions to be lived in company of our motorbikes.
After Bobbio, Marsaglia is reached. It deserves to be seen with her Gola di San Salvatore, L'Orrido di Ponte Barberino, to quote only two beauties of the place, but it is warmly recommend above all to reach to Brugnello. We arrive there, once out of the country, immediately after the bridge on the Trebbia river, turning to the right and keeping on climbing up to that we reach an area with cottages in stone, a characteristic little church and above all from there you can enjoy an amazing view of the whole Val Trebbia, with the river that crosses it. If you want you can also reach the river climbing up the tall hill in order to refresh with a bath among these waters.
From Marsaglia the very beautiful and panoramic Footstep of the Mercatello can be taken, that reaches around the 1058 ms of altitude. Here the road is often very dirty espacially in spring and in autumn, and it is also particularly hold. Therefore is advisable to be more prudent. Once reached Ferriere you can reach the river Nure and therefore the doors of the other pleasant valley of Piacenza, or he will return toward Piacenza.
If instead from Bobbio we continue crossing the state highway 45, and we don't penetrate there therefore in these panoramic itineraries, we can continue, after Marsaglia, toward Ottone, where curves described as the most beautiful in absolute. Here we still continue for some kilometers in the province of Piacenza, before definitely entering in the territory of Liguria. On the road for Ottone, we can meet the indications for Cerignale or for Zerba, that offers roads always more in slope, with some returning and streets tightened from which a splendid view can be enjoyed on the countrysides and on the surrounding mountains.
If instead from Marsaglia we contunue ahead toward a very fascinating common of Piacenza on the border with the Liguria, Salsominore, we will find us already crossing the Aveto Valley.
The road is very narrow and that precipices on the river. In some points of the journey you will find roads dug in the rocks of the mountains and predominantly closed curves and with a scarce visibility. Is a road that offers indeed strong emotions both from the landscape point of view and from that of a going off and sporting guide. These curves know how to abduct the bikers, but you must remember that however they remain dangerous also for the one who knows the road very well.
The province of Piacenza offers indeed besides so many places that the lovers of the jeep also induce. Nowadays those roads are not made officials and for this reason are not practicable, this perhaps is caused by some groups, often too much numerous, that invade and destroy different private properties. Many municipalilies of Piacenza are not favorable to a rigid prohibitionism and rather they are activating themselves, also looking for collaboration with some motorbikes clubs, in order to make official some of the most beautiful routes for the one who loves the cross and the enduro.
In the meanwhile these impassioned ones can surely adress to the Moto Club Valluretta, where they will get all the informations about the various private structures that make available some fields on which to train and to have a good time him without competing.
